As India and Bangladesh are all set to play for their first-ever Day-Night Test at Eden Gardens from Friday, November 22, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has given some important suggestions to both the captains – Virat Kohli and Mominul Haque.

The second and final Test of the series which is going to be the first-ever Day-night Test will be played with the pink-ball in Kolkata. As it says, the pink-ball will help the pacers more, and Gambhir, the former player, thinks that the performance of the pacers would depend on how the captain uses them during the match.

Gambhir urged Virat Kohli to use his pace trio – Mohammad Shami, Umesh Shami and Ishant Sharma more under the lights to get more effectiveness during the Test at Eden Gardens. They are all in fiery form and can pose a big hurdle to the opponent.

According to PTI, Gambhir said: “Captains will now need to use their fast bowlers differently. In red ball cricket they use them early in the morning but in the day and night matches they will probably have to use them under lights as well as it will be of more help as compared to if it’s a 1 p.m. start. I am really excited to see how this pink ball behaves because I have played with the Kookaburra ball and Kookaburra behaves much differently to SG.”

Meanwhile, He also feels that to face the wrist spinners would be a challenging task for the batsmen during the Day-Night Test match.

”One thing I realized was under the lights it was really difficult to pick the wrist spinner because sometimes if you don’t pick it in the hand and you pick it in the end once you watch the scene. But once, its artificial lights and has a black theme as well so I am sure wrist spinners will play a huge role under the lights,” Gautam Gambhir concluded.
