India were completely bowled out in the 3rd T20I by South Africa as the Proteas defeated them by 9 wickets to level the series 1-1. That started after Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss and left everyone surprised.

This was because, the Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for its run-chase. It was, however, the first time in seven T20Is at the ground that the captain winning the toss had batted first. However, the decision was made to test the team in the toughest situations as well as to check the batting depth, but it failed miserably.

“Exactly what we wanted to do and that’s going to be the template we’ll follow for games we have before the World Cup (on opting to bat after winning the toss). The mindset has to be flexible and to try out things when situations are stacked against us. We will have games like this where we don’t execute what we want. But as long as the intent is there to improve, we’ll be in a good zone,” said Virat Kohli.

Kohli also admitted that the South Africa bowlers used the pitch pretty well and able to restrict them within a below par. He further added that One Day Cricket is different from it as in T20s there is no time to come back for the bowlers. Even a strong partnership can take the game away from the opponent.

The captain further added that they will soon fix the composition right as soon as they can. He again added that the players who are doing in the domestic circuit are getting chances. Even the team management are also stressing on the fact that India could bat at number 9 or 10.

“The squad composition we’ll try to get right as soon as we can. The guys who have done well in the domestic circuit are getting opportunities, so it’s not like we are playing random people. You have to understand as well that it’s a very young side, you have to give them time as a team to come together. We batted till 9 tonight, and that’s one area we’re looking to strengthen,” he concluded.
