“The ICC Board unanimously decided that Zimbabwe Cricket, an ICC Full Member, was in breach of Article 2.4 (c) and (d) of the ICC Constitution which imposes an obligation on Members to provide a process for free and democratic elections and to ensure that there is no government interference in its governance and / or administration for cricket respectively,” the statement read.

On the other hand, the governing body also confirmed that all the ICC funding to Zimbabwe Cricket have been stopped. Zimbabwe are not allowed to take part in any of the ICC events either. Meanwhile, they also missed another opportunity as the nation was excluded from participating in the men’s and women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

However, in spite of the suspension, Zimbabwe recently took part in a tri-series with Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, they failed to reach the final and Bangladesh and Afghanistan shared the trophy after the game was washed out.
