IND vs WI 2019: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Returns to ODI and T20 Squads, Deepak Chahar Gets ODI Call Up

India have announced the ODI and T20I squad for the upcoming West Indies series on Thursday. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has returned to the Indian teams in both the formats, while all-rounder Shivam Dube has retained his place in the T20 squad alongside earned his maiden call-up in the ODI.

India will play three Twenty20 Internationals against the Windies, starting in Mumbai on December 6 followed by two matches in Thiruvananthapuram (December 8) and Hyderabad (December 11) respectively. Following that, the three ODIs will be played in Chennai (December 15), Visakhapatnam (December 18) and Cuttack (December 22).

A side strain and a hamstring injury forced the experienced speedster, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, to leave the tour of West Indies in August midway. However, he is fully fit and his inclusion will strengthen the pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. The notable exclusion is Sanju Samson, who was named in the squad for the last series as the specialist batsman had to sit out for the whole series.

Shikhar Dhawan, who has been going through a rough patch, has got another chance while in-form speedster Mohammed Shami and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav are back in the T20 format after a long time. Along with them, Kedar Jadhav has retained his ODI place despite having Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey in both squads.

Youngster Deepak Chahar, who recently had a wonderful T20 series against Bangladesh was named in the ODI squad after his last year’s appearance in Asia Cup in the UAE. He, along with Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace attack.

However, Rahul Chahar has been dropped from the squad as both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are back in the mix. On the other hand, Krunal Pandya, who had been a regular face in the T20 set up for the last one year has also been dropped, as Ravindra Jadeja has returned in the squad.
