The Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza gave birth to a baby boy in October 2018 and along with her motherhood joy she has been training hard to be as fit as ever. Tennis means the world to the 32-year-old, Mirza and she is preparing to get back on the WTA tour. Hopefully, she’ll back in shape for the US Open 2019. She last hit the professional courts in the year 2017 during the China Open, she suffered a knee injury and was defeated in the semifinals in Beijing.

Mirza admires the 22-time major champion, Steffi Graf. “Steffi Graf is someone I look up to. I am still star struck whenever I see her. She is a great example because people say a woman cannot have to it all, but she had it all,” Mirza acknowledged. “She is the greatest player. She married and had kids and achieved many things in life despite it.” Sania admires John McEnroe’s personality and claims him to be her favourite tennis player.

The Hyderabadi girl, Mirza began with her tennis at the age of six, and she clinched the Wimbledon juniors when she was 16. The in-between ten years was a period of struggle which doesn’t come much into the limelight. She was often taunted whenever she picked-up tennis racquets in her childhood. She was jeered with a comment, “What, are you going to become Martina Hingis”, and ironically with the Swiss ace she touched the pinnacle of her tennis career. Later, she became the reason behind Indian kids picking up tennis racquets and propagate the sport to the maximum in the subcontinent.

Up next, a biopic on the tennis star, Mirza will be made. The inspiring events from her life will soon be put into moving pictures which would, in turn, acknowledge a large number of people about her tussles and her journey from the cow dung courts to the grass courts of Wimbledon. “It’s excitement combined with nervousness—a ‘butterfly in your stomach’ feeling—when you are about to let your life story out to the world”, she quoted.

She is the only woman from India to hold multiple Grand Slam titles and she was also ranked Number one in the world on the doubles circuit. Apart from that, she has won numerous medals for India. Mirza has been felicitated by Arjuna Award, WTA newcomer of the year, Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, and the Padma Bhushan. In a nutshell, Sania Mirza is the best version of herself. In 2016, she also released her autobiography, titled Ace Against Odds.
