The World Number two tennis player, Simona Halep is destroyed by the 19-year-old, Marketa Vondrousova in the pre-quarterfinals of the Indian Wells 2019. The unseeded Vondrousova produced the biggest upset of the tournament by steamrolling over the Romanian 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 in one hour and 39 minutes. And she also etched the most harmonious victory of her career. Halep’s loss at the Indian Wells 2019 keeps the Japanese, Naomi Osaka firm at the apex position on the WTA ladder.

Out of her past five matches against the top-ten players, Vondrousova pushed the four of the matches into the decider set but did not clinch a win. However, today fate had different plans for the Czech Republican against the 2015 champion, Halep and breezed into the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells 2019. Previously she defeated the seeded players Jelena Ostapenko and Daria Kasatkina and in the first-round, she dispatched Laura Siegemund at the Indian Wells 2019. Halep overcame a strenuous round-of-32 match against the Ukrainian, Kateryna Kozlova before losing in the pre-quarters at the Californian desert.

On the other WTA courts of Indian Wells 2019, Garbine Muguruza knocks down Kiki Bertens 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 to seal a spot in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard tussled for about two and a half hours and now she will be meeting the Canadian, Bianca Andreescu in the last-eight round of the Indian Wells 2019. “I don’t think it was about the game, it was about staying strong mentally,” Muguruza said. “I never gave up on one point.

The World Number one, Naomi Osaka will be meeting the Dubai champ, Belinda Bencic in the round-of-16 of the Indian Wells 2019. The champion ladies will be battling against each other to find a place in the quarters in the American Tennis Paradise. “I think that’s really amazing, the things that she’s done and the fact that she was able to come back from her injury and still play at a really top level,” Osaka said. “I know we both really want to win this next match.”
