IPL 2019: Meet the Potential Holders for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap

IPL 2019 has well and truly taken off the ground and already, things are looking exciting. So far, 15 matches are complete and there is a long way to go, to crown a winner. After every IPL season, an award is given to the player who has scored the most runs and another award for the player with the most wickets.

These awards are known as the orange cap and the purple cap respectively. Every year, there is a fierce competition for those coveted caps and IPL 2019 will be no different. So far, the competition is heating up and already, there is a tight battle on both leaderboards.

But who are the contenders battling it out for the Purple cap and the Orange cap?

Orange Cap

The Sunrisers Hyderabad player is currently leading the IPL 2019 pack on an astounding 254 runs. His highest score is an unbeaten 100* against a hapless Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad player sits in second place on 198 runs, just two shy of 200. His highest score is 114 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore again. It was during this match that he and David Warner ran riot against the bowlers.

The Kolkata Knight Riders player occupies the 3rd slot in the table on 159 runs. His highest score is 62 runs in a tight encounter against the plucky Delhi Capitals.

The Delhi Capitals batsman is fourth in the standings on 153 runs. Rishabh Pant’s highest score is an a fine 99 run score. Sadly, it went in vain as the Delhi team bravely went down fighting and lost out in the super over.

One of only two Indians on the IPL 2019 top wicket-takers list, the Rajasthan Royals player rounds out the top 5. Gopal is locked in a 3-way battle with Rabada and Sam Curran, with all three players on 6 wickets each.
