Probably a stronger candidate than Bottas, to replace Raikkonen, rumours say that Vettel vetoed out Ricciardo’s inclusion in the team. Ricciardo, in 2014, beat the 4 times world champion, Vettel, fair and square with three race victories and finishing third in the championship tally and leading by a tally of 15-4. Clearly after suffering a humiliating defeat by the Aussie, Vettel would obviously be hesitant to involve Ricciardo in the team.
The ever smiling Ricciardo has left his frustration out in the open with his current Red Bull team. Engine blowouts and penalties due to engine change has prevented him from scoring any significant points this season. If Ferrari does make an appeal for Ricciardo, he will be terribly pleased to let go his Red Bull colours scheme. Red Bull say that they have a solid ‘bullet-proof’ deal with Ricciardo for next year, but with their troubles with the Renault power unit coupled by the ever evolving threats to quit F1 altogether, not only the future of Daniel Ricciardo is doubtful, but the entire team.
