Microsoft’s prime focus with the next-gen launch has always been more than the Xbox Series X and S. Xbox’s latest service offerings in the form of Game Pass and Project xCloud are the focal points for its long-term strategy. In many ways, this is completely different than Xbox’s age-old console-first strategy, and this is where it differentiates itself from PlayStation.
In a recent tweet by Phil Spencer, he may have actually revealed future plans for xCloud and possibly Xbox Game Pass.

I'm writing about Game Pass, and I can't stop thinking, "Why doesn't Xbox Game Pass have streaming on consoles/PC so people could use the service to demo games instead of having to download them?"

This prompted a Twitter user to take this question to Xbox Chief Phil Spencer, who may have provided more than what he was asked for.
“Yes, we want to do this. It’s in the long list of cool things the xCloud team is working on, just a bit further down the list. But we want console and PC players to be able to browse as easily as mobile players, it’s a good gamepass feature.”

Phil Spencer wants to make xCloud available for PC and ‘console’ players in the future
Interestingly, he uses the word ‘console’ here instead of using Xbox, which should’ve been obvious considering he is the head of Xbox. Consequently, this could be a huge hint that points towards the arrival of xCloud on PlayStation. You may think that this is just reading between the lines and nothing more. Although, this isn’t the first hint that points towards the possibility.

A recent design change made to the Xbox Game Pass branding changed itself to just ‘Game Pass’, which could be yet another hint towards this theory. Moreover, Phil Spencer has mentioned before that he wants to move on from the ‘console war’ strategy and make games more accessible to everyone.

With over 15 million subscribers already, Game Pass is definitely looking like a good option for Microsoft in the long run. Obviously, there are bigger things planned for the future, and Phil Spencer & Co. will definitely not disappoint.
