Weeks after making history at Melbourne in front of a record crowd, Israel Adesanya is looking for an opponent to defend his undisputed title. Initially, Israel Adesanya vs Paulo Costa was a done deal with the rivalry they have between us. However, with Paulo Costa out of the scenario for a meaningful period due to surgery, Adesanya does not have an opponent at the moment.

There is one super fight always on the table for Israel Adesanya and it’s the fight against Jon Jones. These two fighters have been constantly trading jabs in the media and according to Adesanya, they are going to fight in 2021 in Raiders Stadium. However, Jon Jones does not have an opponent scheduled for him at the moment and he is looking for super fights. The fight against Israel Adesanya might be the biggest super fight for Jones at the moment. However, Adesanya wants to fight Jones at his terms and when the time is right.

“You see Canelo now, you see what he did to Kovalev. people like he is the new pound-for-pound. I am like you almost forgot the Mayweather fight. And Mayweather did what Jon Jones was trying to do to me which is, show his hands early, fight him when he is still young when he is still fresh.”  said Adesanya on Jones pushing to fight him now.

Israel Adesanya does keep the door open for Jones fight thought if he comes down to middleweight to fight him. However, Adesanya will move up to light heavyweight or heavyweight on his terms.

If he wants to fight me right now, come see me at 185 [pounds, the middleweight limit], “I’ll let him jump the queue, cuz he’s the champ at that weight class. This is my new belt, it’s 185,Adesanya said. “I’m the champ at that weight class and I already have a plan to clean out the division, like he has done in his division. But he hasn’t moved up in weight. I’ve done it in boxing, I’ve done it in kickboxing, I’ll do it in MMA eventually.”

At this point it’s very likely that Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya are going to cross paths . However, it’s hard to imagine Jones dropping down to middleweight for a fight with the champion, Adesanya. It seems fans will have to wait a little longer for this super fight to happen.
