The Adria Tour has been in headlines for months now. Novak Djokovic organized the ill-fated event and had to suffer its consequences. Four including the Serbian were tested positive for the coronavirus. Now Roger Federer’s coach Ivan Ljubicic has given his opinion about it.

The Adria Tour happened without any precautions. Social Distancing wasn’t followed and masks were not mandatory. Djokovic later did apologize for the event and said it happened with a good thought in mind.

“The Adria Tour was not a bad idea, however, it is clear that things had to be done differently. The lack of attention and indiscipline, the carelessness in the indications, and the acts carried out outside of tennis were decisive for the thing It will end as it ended,” Ljubicic said.

It was a lesson for everyone that the virus is supreme now. It has to be taken seriously. And Ljubicic also understands that.

“In the end, it was more the damage than the benefits. Everyone learned from that mistake and they know how they do not have to act for the next time. The virus is an adversary that does not sleep,” he said.

“Borna is fine. He was an asymptomatic person and his life was not in danger. We got him a treadmill, an exercise bike, and is currently at home training to return in the best possible way,” Ljubicic said.

Ljubicic would now solely focus on Federer’s return in 2021. Federer had a knee surgery ruling him out of 2020.
