Federer's deal with Uniqlo is reportedly worth almost $300 million according to ESPN and the Italian tennis journalist Vincenzo Martucci from Sports Senators. Roger Federer stopped being sponsored by Nike in 2019. Uniqlo approached the former number 1 to sponsor him for clothes. However, he still wore Nike shoes without being sponsored. Eventually, Federer discovered the Swiss shoe company, On. He first found out about the company when he saw his wife wearing them. Later, Federer would see people on the streets of Switzerland donning shoes made by On.

He eventually wore the shoes in training and loved them. Federer approached the board of directors of On and signed a deal with them which included a 3% stake in the company. With Federer on board, On was launched into the mainstream. The company reported immense growth in 2021.

Roger Federer was suffering from an injury on his right knee and he underwent surgery for the same in February 2020. He then underwent another knee surgery in June and ended his 2020 season.

Federer's desire to return to the Tour with the Australian Open in 2021 had to, unfortunately, be pushed aside as he didn't have enough time for recovery. The Swiss star made a comeback at the 2021 French Open, followed by a quarter-final run at the Wimbledon Championships.
