Andy Murray has returned to playing tennis after seven months. He is taking part in the Battle of Brits and got a straight-set 6-2 6-2 victory over Liam Broady.

“First, I hope they are well and they recover, and that everyone who is affected is healthy and safe,” said Murray

But Murray was also critical of Djokovic to start the tour in the Balkans. He took a dig at the Serbian for his antics not just on the court but also in the nightclub in Belgrade whose video has gone viral.

“In hindsight, it’s not something that should have gone ahead” – Andy Murray

“It’s not surprising how many people have tested positive after seeing some of the images of the players’ party and the kids’ day. There was no social distancing in place.” He added

Murray had shown keen interest in returning to Grand slam tennis. He is looking forward to the US Open and is preparing for it in a safe environment. The Adria Tour debacle could create panic and doubt over many players’ thoughts on playing the US Open.

He is still pretty optimistic about the US Open chances. Adria Tour fell short on rules regarding masks, social distancing, and crowd control. With the new rules by ATP, there will be no crowds at the US Open. Also, there will be fewer people on the court and strict temperature checks will be done during the tournament.

Adria Tour has given the tennis world a setback. Fans and players are looking for a smooth resumption of tennis. Still, two months to go for tennis and the situation could change for the better.
