As we all know by now, Roger Federer is out of the tennis Tour for the next few weeks due to a knee surgery. The news came as a bit of a surprise, as Federer was scheduled to play the clay season too. Dominic Thiem, currently playing in Rio Open, had some words to say on Roger’s surgery.
Federer had issues with his right knee for some time now, as he relayed through his statement. He opted for an arthroscopic surgery on the knee, which was a success too.
It may well be that Roger is seeking his ninth Wimbledon title, and wants to be at his fittest when he steps out on Centre Court. He came pretty close last year; in fact, he was just a point away. This year may well be his last real opportunity to win it.

Incidentally, just a few days back, Thiem reiterated his desire to capture Roger’s No. 3 spot in the world rankings. It looks like he will have his wish soon enough.
