While it did provide promotion for UFC, it has ultimately led to McGregor losing repect outside the octagon. It became worse, when McGregor lost against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. This was after a lot of drama in the lead up to the match, which also saw McGregor throwing a chair at Khabib’s camp’s bus. McGregor looks much more focused, and driven for his return match. The Conor McGregor we are getting to see in interviews in the recent past, is different than the Conor we have seen in the past. I am saying this in terms of how he has been in his past interviews before a fight. It might have a lot to do with the big return already doing the publicity for the match already. However, Conor’s last loss indeed has had a big impact on him. It has made people doubt his capabilities on the ground, which might have been due to his more prolific striking. Similar to how Khabib is often criticised for his striking in contrast with his elite wrestling. The truth is far from assumption, but the return of Conor McGregor is certainly a blessing for the MMA world.
