Jean Alesi Highlights Key Difference Between Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen are undoubtedly the two biggest rising stars in Formula 1. The two are almost akin in the talent scale and are both hungry for success on the track. However, former Ferrari driver, Jean Alesi pointed out one key difference between the two, namely self-criticism.

“It is true that they have different characters,” said Alesi to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“This could mean they grow in opposite directions. Charles always brings himself into the discussion – he is always critical of himself,”.

“Think of his mistakes in Baku and Hockenheim. He looks back on those errors, analyses them and then corrects himself.”

Moving on to Max Verstappen, he revealed that the Dutchman is the complete opposite to the Ferrari man. The Frenchman observed that Max Verstappen inherently thinks that his problems lie with others.

“It is more difficult to grow as a driver with that approach,” said the 55-year old.

Jean Alesi even waved the chequered flag for Charles LeClerc as he crossed the line in front of the cheering tifosi.

Leclerc admitted he made “a few mistakes” during the grand prix, one when he nudged Hamilton wide into the second chicane while defending the lead and another when he locked up at the first chicane.

“But at the end I finished first, so I am very happy with this,” said Leclerc. “I need to be careful with the mistakes but none of them made me lose position today.”

The defeated Mercedes duo lamented their fruitless chase of Leclerc and admitted he and his Ferrari were too quick to overhaul.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen also has been an instrumental figure for Red Bull Honda. He bagged a couple of wins for the Austrian outfit and dragged himself into the title fight. Whatever the case, fans can expect fireworks from the two of them in the future.
