Recently, the 2020 US Open came to a close, and now, fans are looking forward to the next Grand Slam – the French Open. However, sadly, one player will be absent from this event – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The Frenchman has been struggling with a back injury that forced him out of the 2020 Australian Open. And sadly, he hasn’t been able to recover in time. That is why he has withdrawn from the French Open and also, the remaining events of 2020. He was obviously upset about this but he is now looking forward to 2021 as he said,

“2020 is to be forgotten. But I still have the morale, the rage, the desire & the motivation to come back in 2021, hoping that things will evolve positively. Finding the courts & fighting against all these incredible players would be a dream … Thank you friends for all your support .”

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Looking For Form

At one time, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was one of the toughest players on the ATP Tour. He beat many top players and he even reached the latter stages of Grand Slams on numerous occasions. However, that all changed from 2017.

He has had a lot of injuries since then and that is why he is now World No. 49. Considering that he was once ranked no. 5 in the world, he is definitely not happy about this. And getting back on top will be his biggest goal when he returns in 2021.

It is too early for him to decide which event he will play at that time but everyone can expect him to see him at the Australian Open. He has great memories at the event as he reached the final back in 2008. And hopefully, he will finally get his hands on the trophy when he plays there.
