Joe Rogan is the biggest name in the podcast industry, there’s no doubt about that. His podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, has almost 200 million views/listeners a month. The UFC commentator/interviewer has found his true calling in podcasting and hasn’t looked back since. But, it seems Mr. Rogan has a problem with video games and he has been very vocal about it.

In a recent podcast with Joe De Sena, he mentions how video games are a problem because they are so much fun, and addictive to boot. Take a look:

He also says playing video games doesn’t get you anywhere and that they are a ‘waste of time.’ Now people related to the gaming industry definitely will have a different outlook at this. James Dash, the host for Riot Games, took to Twitter to comment on this where he said,

“Yo @joerogan , I’m a host for the biggest esport and most played video game in the world. I would jump at an opportunity to be on your show and talk about the value of games. Hit me up if you’re interested!”

Dash is the host for League of Legends, one of the biggest esports titles in the world. He is right to defend the video game industry, especially considering that it has grown massively during this pandemic. It would definitely be a podcast to watch if James were to actually feature on Rogan’s show.

If you don’t really know much about Joe, you’ll be surprised to know he has been a part of the gaming industry himself. Joe, as he is in real life, was the commentator for EA’s UFC franchise. But all that will change with UFC 4, which will not feature him or his voice.

No, this has nothing to do with his comments about video games but rather his hatred for voiceover work.

You can read up on that with our report here.

Joe Rogan hated doing voiceover for the UFC games

In an interview with Gamespot, UFC 4 creative director, Brian Hayes, said: “He hasn’t been shy about saying this on his own podcast; like, he hates doing it. If you’re not a person that [can] mentally get into that space, then I can see how it could be a very, you know, challenging, potentially mind-numbing experience for a certain type of individual.

“He was open with us from from the very beginning that he hated his experience of doing voiceover on previous iterations of other UFC games, and things were no different for us. He hated doing voiceover on these games as well. That has nothing to do with with us in particular, or, you know, our games versus other games. He just does not like sitting in a booth reading lines for hours at a time.”

Well, it looks like Rogan is no longer fond of video games as he once was. A while back, he had confessed to being addicted to a then-popular video game named Quake. Perhaps his thought process comes from his experience of that addiction, which would be understandable. However, to make a sweeping generalization about all video games and the community is certainly a bit harsh.

Maybe James can change his outlook towards games by telling him exactly what the industry is about. For now, we wait to see if Joe responds to this message by Dash.
