Jos Buttler Hopes to Get Some Great Support During England vs India Match

England’s wicket-keeper batsman, Jos Buttler suggested that the Indian team will certainly have more support during England vs India match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Sunday. However, Buttler also hopes that England will also get some great support during the high-voltage clash against India.

In an interview ahead of India vs England match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on June 30, Jos Buttler was asked whether it’s time to hand the title of the favourite in and embrace the underdog role for a while after a disappointing run at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

England’s consecutive loss against Sri Lanka and Australia have not only cost them the No. 1 ODI ranking but also put them in danger in the race to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semifinals. Jos Buttler revealed that they were feeling the pressure but guaranteed that they are not panicking.

Jos Buttler divulged that the favourites and underdogs tag does not matter to them. He continued, “I don’t know. I think embracing the favourites tag, that’s for more your guys and people sort of on the outside seeing that. We know that we’re going to be — whether we’re favourites or underdogs, they’re going to be very hard matches, especially against teams like India, a great side, who we know are brilliant. But favourites and underdogs I don’t think means too much.”

Jos Buttler further said that the England team is ready to face India on Sunday. He further added, “I think for us we know we need to play better and we know we’re capable of playing better. We look forward to the challenge of facing a really strong Indian team.”

Jos Buttler also talked about the immense support that the ‘Men in Blue’ get in every match that they play. He feels that they are privileged to play a match against India. Buttler continued, “We’re in a very privileged position to be able to take part in a game like Sunday. It’s a massive occasion. You talk about pressures and external pressures — pressure is a privilege sometimes, we’re in a very privileged position to be in this situation.”

Jos Buttler further added, “These are the games that you’ll look back on in your career or the start of your career you do hope you’re involved in these games, and it’s going to be a great occasion. We know that the support the Indian side will get — wherever they go in the world, they get great support, and we hope we will get some great support, as well, and it’s going to be a great game.”
