Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has spoken about his managerial future stating that he knows exactly what he wants when he returns to the sidelines.

The Portuguese manager had an abysmal season with Manchester United before his inevitable sacking in December. The club had their worst ever start to a Premier League season under Mourinho, and the embarrassing 3-1 defeat at Anfield marked the culmination of his rocky two-and-a-half year tenure.

Since then, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken the baton from Mourinho and has completely turned around United’s season. The Norwegian manager is in pole position to get handed a permanent managerial job at his boyhood club.

Barring his debacle at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho still remains one of the most decorated managers in the modern game and no big club will shy away from the prospect of having the high-profile manager in their ranks. The Portuguese was linked to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Real Madrid recently, but the Spanish side have already appointed three-time Champions League winning manager Zinedine Zidane back at the helm.

Mourinho, in his interview with BBC, revealed, “I would like to be back in the summer, in June, for a new club, for a new pre-season.”

“I know exactly what I don’t want. That’s the reason why I had to already say no to the 3-4 offers I had. And I also know what I want, not in terms of a specific club, but the nature of the job, the dimension of the job. I know what I want.”

Mourinho also insisted that he’s learning each day, and that a sabbatical from managing does not necessarily mean that one is on holiday, or getting bored at home. He also insisted that he has taken a break from football to prepare harder and better for his upcoming adventure.
