Juan Martin Del Potro Supports Marco Trungelliti For Combatting Corruption

The Argentine tennis player, Marco Trungelliti was involved in the match-fixing activity in his home country and was suspended from tennis for the same and along with him three of his countrymen were suspended. “They just used me. They just dropped me in the middle of the sea,” he said. “I’m still paying the price.” Argentina’s number one tennis player, Juan Martin del Potro voiced out about his compatriot’s battle against the outlawed action.

“What Marco did when he denounced it is the right thing to do, after that there are a lot of other things that can do much more harm than what really needs to be talked about, which is the denunciation of corruption that has taken place,” Juan Martin del Potro said.

The 2009 U.S. Open champion, Del Potro further elaborated upon the other Argentine folks involved and the outcome of this dilemma. “In this case there are Argentine tennis players involved, but if there were not, the procedure would have to be the same, I hope the people who are investigating these things and determine if one is guilty or not can act in a good way and that this will definitely end our sport,” Juan Martin del Potro continued.

The World Number nine, Juan Martin del Potro hasn’t played a match since his quarterfinal defeat at the Delay Beach Open 2019 and he also spoke about the Davis Cup 2019 in November. Argentina has received a wild card for the same. 

“My position with Davis Cup has not changed, it’s the same one I said two years ago. From what I heard there are conflicting opinions and they throw more for the negative ones, we have to let it run a little bit, it’s a lot until November when the competition starts. And like any change, I think it takes time to see if it was good or not and that the people who are playing it adapt,” Juan Martin del Potro added.
