Right after his U.S. Open 2018 finals defeat where Juan Martin del Potro lost his title to Novak Djokovic at Flushing Meadows, he suffered a knee injury during the Shanghai Masters 2018. The Argentine was impelled to retire from his pre-quarterfinal match against the Croatian, Borna Coric in the Chinese Metropolis as he fell down and hobbled out of the court.

Since then he just played one ATP tournament in the United States, where he lost to Mackenzie McDonald in three sets. The 2018 champion at Indian Wells, Juan Martin del Potro joined the list of causalities during this year’s ‘Sunshine Double’ all due to his deformed knee. Nevertheless, the ‘Tower of Tandil’ will be seen in action after his prolonged hiatus from professional tennis as he is getting fitter to hit the ATP tennis courts.
