The 2018 Wimbledon finalist, Kevin Anderson has begun his year possible in the best possible way, by setting the seal on the Tata Open title in the Indian city of Pune, Maharashtra. The South African skyscraper, Anderson defeated the Croatian Ivo Karlovic 7-6 6-7 7-6 in two hours and 44 minutes in the final. Also, he held the sixth title of his career. In the previous season, he played some incredible matches of his career and additionally, he qualified for the Nitto Finals for the first time in his career.

Undoubtedly, his Wimbledon quarterfinal was one of the most discussed matches last year after he eliminated the Swiss legend, Roger Federer from the SW19 major. Their match was held on the Court Number one of the arena. “There is a lot of silly politics involved … who is going to be playing where? I heard Federer was upset (for playing on Court Number one). It was kind of interesting”, Anderson confessed. “Those guys are more often than not playing on the same court match after match. I had played on Court Number one against Monfils, so I was a little used to that. I didn’t feel too bad for Federer that he had to adapt because I have to do that pretty much every single tournament.”

Anderson is well aware of Federer’s dominance in the tournament. Besides that, he doesn’t claim about benefits which Federer gets during the tournaments, but that was pointed out by Julien Benneteau, during the 2018 ATP Finals in London. “I just feel that the champion he (Federer) is, even if he had to play day matches, he would have adjusted and found a way”, Anderson appended. “Every player has the right to make scheduling request. Obviously, if Roger asks the tournament is going to take it seriously. He is so popular and every tournament wants him in the final. It’s not his fault”.
