Kevin Pietersen Takes a Dig at Eoin Morgan After England vs Australia Match

Former England captain and right-handed batsman, Kevin Pietersen took a dig at English captain, Eoin Morgan after their defeat against Australia at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on Tuesday at the Lord’s.

The English skipper failed to perform for his team for the second consecutive match as England suffered their third loss at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The hosts lost their second consecutive match against Australia as they were defeated by 64 runs. Eoin Morgan could manage to score only 4 runs as his team failed to chase a total of 285 runs.

Kevin Pietersen took an aim at Eoin Morgan as he suggested that the left-handed batsman was scared of Mitchell Starc when he came out to bat at 15-2 during the fourth over.

Kevin Pietersen took Twitter to criticize Eoin Morgan as a weak captain. He wrote, “The England captain stepping to the square leg when Starc bowled his first delivery to him made me think England could have a little problem over the next week or so. I hope not, but I’ve not seen a captain show such a weakness for a while…”

England was struggling when Eoin Morgan came into the crease to bat. The team needed their captain to step up for them and guide the innings. However, Morgan could not hold his wicket for long and put his team into more trouble as the scoreboard read 25 for 3 after his wicket.

Eoin Morgan was struggling against Mitchell Starc as suggested by Kevin Pietersen. It was the short ball which did the job for Starc as he took the wicket of Morgan. The short ball kept climbing for Morgan. Eoin Morgan was hastened by the pace and was in an uncomfortable position. However, he still went for the pull and edged the ball which went straight to Pat Cummins at long leg.

The World Cup favourites, England now has 8 points in 7 matches and will have to win at least one match in their last two matches in order to stay alive at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. However, the road ahead will not be easy for the hosts as they will face India and New Zealand in their last two matches.
