Grade B players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Wriddhiman Saha, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuvraj Singh are entitled to receive 1 crore as an annual retainer amount.

Grade C players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Amit Mishra, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Hardik Pandya, Ashish Nehra, Kedar Jadhav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Parthiv Patel, Jayant Yadav, Mandeep Singh, Dhawal Kulkarni, Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant receive an annual retainer amount of 50 lakhs. All these amounts that were proposed were doubled from last year.

With regard to the match fee, the players have to pay 15 lakhs per Test match, for every ODI match, they pay 6 lakhs and finally, for every T20 International match, they pay 3 lakhs.

Many Indian fans were left puzzled when Suresh Raina was left out of the player grade system. Raina had just made his comeback to the team in the T20 series against England. Raina was a Grade A player during the 2014-15 season but was demoted to a Grade B player last season. His exclusion has left a number of fans furious, but it is unsurprising to a few because of his inconsistent form. Another player who was demoted was Shikhar Dhawan, who was considered a decent opening batsman. Dhawan was initially a Grade B player until he was demoted to Grade C.
