Kyle Edmund Set to Train With New Coach Ahead of 2020 Season

Great Britain’s Kyle Edmund is all set to start his new partnership with coach Franco Davin after the ongoing Davis Cup 2019 Finals in Madrid as the pair will start working together for the next season in a bid to resuscitate his career that has flagged badly this season.

Kyle Edmund experienced some major changes in his coaching staff in the 2019 season, having lost his long-time coach Fredrik Rosengren, who retired from the tour in order to spend some more time with his family. The Briton then parted ways with his lone coach Mark Hilton, two months ago after he lost his first-round at the 2019 Chengdu Open in Beijing.

Kyle Edmund is now hoping to fill the void in his coaching team by adding Franco Davin. The pair also had a trial week following the Rolex Paris Masters 2019.

According to the reports of Daily Mail, Kyle Edmund will start training with coach Franco Davin in Miami after the completion of Davis Cup 2019 Finals.

Under the tutelage of Fredrik Rosengren and Mark Hilton, Edmund made his maiden Grand Slam semifinal appearance at the 2018 Australian Open and also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 14 in the ATP rankings.

On the other hand, Franco Davin has worked with various players including Italian star Fabio Fognini and former World No.3 Grigor Dimitrov before joining Edmund’s team. However, Davin is known for his six-year partnership with Juan Martin Del Potro. A 20-year-old Del Potro clinched his maiden grand slam title at the 2009 US Open under the guidance of Davin.

Kyle Edmund had a year to forget with some substandard results in the season. He had an inferior win-loss record of 14-22 this season. The 24-year-old’s best performance came in Eastbourne, where he reached the semifinals. The former British No.1 also dealt with a knee injury, earlier this year.
