The LA Clippers are losing this free agency as of now. After all the hype surrounding them last season, they fell glaringly short of expectations. To add to that, their cross-town rivals won the championship to further their hold on the city of Los Angeles.

After firing long-time coach Doc Rivers, their off-season has been silent. Pouring salt on their wounds, reigning sixth man of the year Montrezl Harrell signed with the Lakers.

Not only that, but the ‘Purple and Gold’ are bossing this free agency, adding Dennis Schröder and veteran Marc Gasol to its roster.

But can they make one big splash? Can they grab the headlines yet again this off-season?

Possible Trades for LA Clippers

The Clippers desperately need a floor general to run the game for them. Their current starting point guard, Patrick Beverley, is more of a defensive stopper than a playmaker.

And now, since Rajon Rondo signed for the Atlanta Hawks, the market for quality free agent guards has become nonexistent. Here are the trades that they could make –

Russell Westbrook

Westbrook is arguably the most athletic point-guard of all time. The ‘Triple-Double’ machine is hyper-competitive, has a never say die attitude, and is still in his prime.

Although he is notorious for his poor 3-point shooting, the Clippers can surround him with shooters. However, trading for a high-quality player won’t come cheap.

This may mean parting ways with ‘Pandemic P’ Paul George. The Houston Rockets won’t accept any less than the former Indiana Pacers’ player to trade away ‘Russ’.

Bradley Beal

Now, if the Clippers want to add shooting, this is the man they should look at. Contrary to Westbrook, the Wizards’ point guard is more like the modern-day guard. Murmurs of him being unhappy in Washington might help their cause. Again, ‘PG13’ will be the sacrificial lamb to make this trade a reality.

Ah! What ripples this might cause in the league were this to happen. The reigning scoring champion, a consistent MVP Candidate, and someone thirsting for an NBA Title; he’s the perfect fit. Houston may be more willing to accept George for him since he plays the same SG position as Harden.

Could this former All-Star be on the cards for LA Clippers?

DeMarcus Cousins has been unlucky with injuries of late. However, he’s still not over the hill and could return to his All-NBA level. Also, he’s a free agent who won’t take much cap space, negating the need to trade away George.

Kawhi Leonard and co. can still save their off-season. Otherwise, a very long and tough season beckons for them in a month’s time.
