McLaren driver Lando Norris is largely regarded as a breath of fresh air, owing to his social media presence and the kind of banter he shares with his teammate and fellow drivers. In 2019, he enjoyed an excellent first season in Formula One with the McLaren team. The Woking team are also on a redemption arc, after suffering for years with average results.

Meanwhile, the fresh-faced Norris was often evenly matched when pitted against his teammate Carlos Sainz. Interestingly, he observed that his playful personality could be to his detriment in the future and affect his performance in F1. Admittedly, he has been quick and his highest position is 6th in Bahrain and Austria.

The Brit isn’t afraid to be who he is and be young at heart, and that is why he is quickly becoming a beloved figure in Formula 1. In the 2019 driver’s championship, Lando Norris finished eleventh and, he and Sainz guided McLaren to 4th in the constructor’s standings.

However, he was of the opinion that he may have taken things too easy in his maiden Formula One season and focused on having fun. Speaking to Autosport, Lando Norris confessed that he possibly took the series for granted and  slacked off

He continued, “I think I towards the outside world must now do more seriously than I do so that those things are not going to use as an excuse.”

Norris even used Renault driver, Daniel Ricciardo as an example and admitted that the Australian liked to joke around occasionally. However, when it came to the crunch, even he put his game face on and took the sport seriously.

The young Briton concluded, “Over time maybe I’ll become more relaxed like him but I think I still have to look more serious from the outside sometimes than I’d want to be, just so people don’t use things that aren’t true as excuses.”
