Virat Kohli led India are playing their second ODI against West Indies in Visakhapatnam where India’s opening batsman KL Rahul registered his third ODI hundred to give a solid foundation. Put into bat, India got off to a flying start. Both stitched a 227-run partnership.

Rahul opened the batting with India vice-captain Rohit Sharma. He was the one who took the charge and accelerated the innings as Sharma took some time to find his groove initially. It was only in the third over that Rahul hit his first boundary off West Indies, fast bowler, Sheldon Cottrell.

In his next over, Rahul hit him for another two fours and showed his calibre to everyone. With his big-hitting skill, India put up 55 runs in the first powerplay. He even reached his half-century before Sharma on the penultimate delivery of the 16th over when he took a single off West Indies spinner Kharry Pierre.

Barring a top-edging sweep, he didn’t take any unnecessary risk. His knock was full of textbook shots where he reached his century in style. A loose delivery came from Alzarri Joseph down the leg-side on the first delivery of the 37th over. KL Rahul hit past short fine leg for a boundary. After scoring his third ODI hundred, he came up with his weird celebration.

However, his flamboyant knock didn’t last long as Joseph dismissed him in the same over. The final ball of the same over saw his dismissal. Joseph bowled a fuller length delivery outside the off-stump where Rahul was trying to make too much of room. But he ended up hitting it straight into the hands of the third man fielder, Roston Chase. Rahul scored 102 off 104 with the help of eight fours and three sixes.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma also scored a century and India posted a huge total of 387 on board.
