During the early minutes of the Q3 segment of qualifying, there was a hairy moment between the Mercedes duo. As per protocol, the drivers attempted to put some distance between themselves for an uninterrupted lap. However, Valtteri Bottas nearly overdid it, when he backed right off and a surprised Lewis Hamilton almost went headlong into him.

Fortunately, Hamilton locked his brakes and avoided a crash, which would have botched their qualifying. Meanwhile, the Ferrari duo of Sebastian Vettel and Charles LeClerc took advantage and overtook the Silver Arrows. In addition to that, Kimi Raikkonen was on his flying lap when he came across the Mercedes pair. The good news was that he made his way past without much trouble.

It was also worth noting that before the run in, Lewis Hamilton complained that the slow outlap was affecting them. In the end, the Mercedes boys ended up locking out the 2nd row.
