Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has confessed that he was deeply concerned about his rival and colleague Sebastian Vettel. However, he was glad to see the German driver regain some of his mojo with his win in Singapore.

The World Champion elect relished seeing that Vettel’s critics were proven wrong. However, after the Russian Grand prix, it was a far different story as Ferrari imploded with their team orders. Mercedes were right there to pick up the pieces, even though Ferrari dominated the weekend

The two drivers share nine world championships between them, though it is soon to be 10. Incidentally, Hamilton and Vettel debuted in Formula 1 in 2007. Mercedes now has a good run, while Ferrari struggled initially before turning things around, come Belgium. Sadly for Ferrari, all that was undone with their internal squabble in Sochi last weekend.

It pained him to see his rival struggle with driving errors and constant questions about his future. The media often pestered him about his future, because of the German’s poor performances. Speaking to Channel 4 in Russia, he confessed, “I was seriously worried about him.”

“I know him very well. We are part of the same generation and I just know what it’s like to be put down by the critics like that, people are going to talk negatively about you, the press will tear you down and within the team you can feel that your teammate is better. “
