Philippe Coutinho showed part of his heart remains at Anfield last night as he praised Liverpool striker, Mohamed Salah on his hat-trick performance.
The former Liverpool midfielder, who transferred to Barcelona in January, commented on Salah’s latest Instagram post to the surprise of many fans.
Amid talk around Salah’s failure to celebrate his three goals against Bournemouth on Saturday, the Egyptian winger posted a photo holding the winning match ball and applauding his teammates.
And it appears Coutinho wanted to get in on the celebration as he commented with two emojis on Salah’s post, one of hands clapping and a crown emoji – a nod to Salah’s nickname, the ‘Egyptian king’.
Fans were quick to say Coutinho ‘knows who the king is’ as within 15 hours, Coutinho’s comment had gained over 12,000 likes.
Supporters were also quick to say on the post how they missed the Barcelona player.
One user commented: “This is worse than Marley and Me.”
Another said: “Comeback to Liverpool please.”
And Youtuber Matt Craig commented: “Wish you were still in this team…”
The friendly relations between Salah and Coutinho didn’t end there though, as Salah replied to the Brazilian international with a raising hands and three heart eyes emojis.
Prior to Saturday’s match, Salah had not scored in three games, however Saturday’s game saw Liverpool equal their record of 17 Premier League matches unbeaten.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was also quick to praise Salah for his performance.
