Liverpool FC Breaks Record With New Nike Deal

Liverpool FC has officially announced their new partnership with Nike. Nike will become their jersey supplier from 2020/21 onwards. Their deal begins from 1 June 2020 when they kick off their next Premier League season.

Nike will supply all the jerseys which will include their training gear, travel kit, and their official playing jersey. They will provide the kits for the men, women and their academy squad.

Previous Champions League winner were currently sponsored by New Balance and will end their deal with them as soon as this season ends. New Balance was their official sponsor since 2015 and this new deal will see the 5-year deal come to an end.

Liverpool FC recently went to court with New Balance when the sports apparel company tried to block the Nike Deal. This deal saw Liverpool move on to Nike for a better and richer outlook, abandoning New Balance in the process. This New Balance to take up claims about Nike’s offer which the court ruled on Liverpool’s side.

Liverpool’s managing director, Billy Hogan said “Our iconic kit is a key part of our history and identity. We welcome Nike into the LFC family as our new official kit supplier and expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and globally as we continue to expand our fanbase.”

The chief commercial officer also added, “As a brand, Nike reflects our ambitions for growth, and we look forward to working with them to bring fans new and exciting products.

The accurate worth of the deal is not sure but some sources suggest it to be around $105.5 million. If the sources are true, this will see the Liverpool-Nike deal become the most expensive sponsorship deal in England.

Currently, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United sit on top. Their deals are worth $98 million for Manchester United, $128 million for Real Madrid, $130 for Barcelona.

This deal can be a huge boost for Liverpool as they are set to become the most expensive sponsored club in all of England. This sees them get past their rival Manchester United who was sitting at the top before.
