Goals just kept coming on a night when Arsenal went to Liverpool to challenge them for a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

It was the Arsenal players that scored the first three of the ten goals in the match, but one of them was into their own net by Skodran Mustafi. Arsenal soon made it 3-1 when Gabriel Mertinelli completed a brace. Seven minutes later, James Milner converted a penalty, taking the match into half time with scoreline already filled with goals. It was although, only half of the total number of goals scored in the match.

The second half was in for a few stunners. Alex Oxlade Chamberlen in the 58th minute, Divock Origi 62nd minute and Joe Willock in the 70th minute produced moments of individual brilliance to make the match that much more exciting. At 5-4, the game went into injury time, with feeling of “surely, there isn’t anything left.” But there was still a goal to go with Origi’s equalizer forcing the game to penalties.

Nobody looked like missing from the spot from both sides untill Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher saved Dani Ceballos’s spot kick with full stretch to his right. Liverpool youth player Curtis Jones had the opportunity to win it for his team and he did.

“We were too open at times. We can talk about tactics but who cares on a night like this? I hoped for the boys they would have a game to remember,” Klopp said.

“It’s like a dream for them to play for the first time at Anfield. All our goals were wonderful.”

“A crazy match. At the end we were winning until the last action. Penalties are 50-50 and we lost. We are sad but we deserve more,” Emery said.
