After a rather poor start to the season with just one win in the first eight games, New Orleans Pelicans have picked up a little with a five wins in their last seven games.The Pelicans now stand 10th in the Western Conference with a win-loss record of 6-10.

The Pelicans have lost their last game 128-120 against Utah Jazz on Saturday after winning three consecutively. Over the last two games, Brandon Ingram has returned 61 points apart from contributing with 10 assists and 12 rebounds. They also had decent performances from the likes of JJ Reddick and Jrue Holiday. Lonzo Ball is also settling into the season after an injury, and the performances are reflecting in the team’s better returns.

New Orleans are the fifth-highest scoring team in the NBA with 116.2 points per game. Ingram is averaging 25.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game- which is the highest among the Pelicans.

On Sunday, they will be facing a Clippers team which will be coming on the back of a four game winning streak that includes wins against Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics. They are currently placed fourth in the Western Conference. However, the encouraging fact for the Pelicans will be that Clippers’ last loss came against them although a few things have changed since then.

Pelicans are still without Zion Williamson, whose return would definitely strengthen the team. It is reported that Williamson is recovering well although exact timeline is still unknown. Derrick Favors was also reported to be out against Utah and Clippers.

Guard Josh Hart is close to making a return from his knee injury and is listed as probable for the game on Sunday. To top the injury worries, the Clippers game will be their second back to back game down the road, which brings in the fatigue factor.

As for the Clippers, they look fit and will also be fresh, playing the last five games at home with some rest between games as well.

Predictions-

Considering the players injured and the amount of workload, the Pelicans would find it hard to beat a Clippers side which boasts of the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the lineup.
