With 30 seconds left to play in the final quarter, the score in the match between Portland Trial Blazers and Dallas Mavericks read 118-119 in favour of the Mavericks. Damian Lillard drove in to convert a lay up to give his team a point’s lead. In response, Luka Doncic attempted a three pointer, but missed. If you are thinking the game ended with the Trail Blazer keeoing possession for the remainder of the few seconds, there was still some drama left in the game.

Dorrian Finney-Smith grabbed an offensive rebound and thought he was fouled while attempting to shoot. A coach’s challenge resulted in a jump-ball, off which Kent Bazemore was awarded a free-throw with five seconds left on the clock. He missed the shot, but the Trail Blazers won the game with a point, after Tim Hardaway’s out of range buzzer beater was not to be.

Talking after the game, 21-year old Luka Doncic took blame for the close loss, referring to the three-pointer that he missed in the final few seconds.
