Former World Number one, Maria Sharapova’s performance on the WTA courts has been deteriorating and she has been plagued with injuries over the past few months. Recently, Maria Sharapova was asked about her motivating force and what keeps her going to hit the practice courts every day, despite being plagued with injuries every now and then.

It’s simply incredible to see someone grueling themselves in their field of work and being undeterred by her physical infirmities and other shortcomings. Sharapova continues to put in tremendous amount efforts on the practice courts and she is working incessantly to get back where she was a few years ago.

“Thank you. I wish, for every single press conference I have done for the past couple of years, I wish I had a repeat voiceover about this answer I give, but I still love very much what I do,” the five-time Grand Slam champion replied.

“I think beneath everything is I believe in what I do and I believe in my ability. You have to love it. I have been doing it for way too long to not love it, to continue to have that motivation behind what I do and the work, and, you know, all the work that goes on before you get to the court or after you get off the court.”

She has been playing tennis for the past 28 years of her life and she plans to endeavor in the field as long as her body could support. The competition on the circuit is increasing day by day, new faces are showing, players are refining the sport and taking tennis to the next level. Teetering on the edge of all these parameters Sharapova continues to be optimistic and strives to give her best on the professional courts.

At Cincinnati Open 2019, Maria Sharapova played some decent tennis against the American, Alison Riske. Collectively, this season the Russian ace has won eight matches on the WTA Tour and she is presently ranked 97th in the world.
