Russian tennis sensation Maria Sharapova recently appeared on ABC News as a guest on an episode of the “No Limits with Rebecca Jarvis” podcast.

Sharapova elaborated on her tennis journey and her vision for life which made her succeed.

According to Sharapova, the worst advice that she has ever received was, “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish”. For the 32-year-old, a strong and clear beginning is essential for a positive outcome, whether in sports or business. (Sharapova is the CEO of her own premium candy line, Sugarpova).

“The beginning is one of the most important parts of a journey … And so in my career, before you make that first step, you have to do so much due diligence. You have to put in so much work and effort, put in the right team, the frame of mind, and the hours of repetition in order to have a great beginning and the better the beginning, the better the end.”

Sharapova recalls how she was able to concentrate on hitting a tennis ball over and over again at the young age of six, something which enabled her to stand out among other children.

Maria Sharapova is one of the most successful tennis players in the world. What makes her special is that her popularity is high even among the people who don’t follow tennis.
