McLaren Formula One CEO Zak Brown must be counting himself lucky, as he won a tour of the Red Bull factory. Apparently, F1 technical guru, Adrian Newey, offered the tour as part of a charity auction. Clearly, it was going to be an awkward situation, as the two are from rival teams and their teams will most likely be battling each other in the near future.

Brown’s presence at the Red Bull factory is bound to be even more awkward, since McLaren used to race with Honda and Red Bull used to race Renault engines. Their respective teams also finished 4th and 3rd in the 2019 championship. However, it remains to be seen if Brown will actually take Newey up on his offer.

McLaren shrugged off their poor form in the last few seasons, and got rewarded with a podium in Brazil. Furthering their bid to improve further is the partnership between Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.

Meanwhile, Red Bull could only muster third in the Constructors’ championship in spite of Max Verstappen finishing third in the drivers’ championship. The Bulls were not helped by the fact that Verstappen shouldered most of the responsibility and the bulk of the points.

Coming back to McLaren, the team and Zak Brown have seemingly become serious in order to bridge the gap between themselves and the top three. Recently, the McLaren Racing boss revealed that he was considering a few designs in the World Endurance Championship.

However, McLaren already have fingers stuck in two pies, namely IndyCar, alongside the team’s F1 ambitions. Brown even confessed that they may be stretched thin, financially, if they participate in the WEC. However, he believes that it may be a risk that he is willing to take to ensure the team’s success in the future.
