The Scorpions skipper claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs including a maiden, from seven overs. Megan Schutt made short work of the openers, bowling them out fairly cheaply, including using her well-known in-swinger.

However, Schutt was not the only South Australia player to come away with wickets.  Joining her were spinner Alex Price with two wickets, Eliza Doddridge with another two, Samantha Betts, Stacey Oates and Darcie Brown contributed a wicket apiece to dismiss Queensland for 232 inside 46 overs.

Unfortunately, the Scorpions batting contingent could not pick up where the bowlers left off. In spite of a solid foundation, courtesy opener Bridget Patterson’s 47, along with Tegan McPharlin’s 25 and Doddridge’s 27, the Scorpions’ middle order imploded. Queensland got their revenge as South Australia were skittled out for 158 runs. Oates and Brown attempted to salvage the situation and steady the ship, there was not much that they could do.

Scorpions’ first match in the new Women’s National Cricket League season will see them face the New South Wales Breakers. Meanwhile, the schedule for Queensland Fire is stil unknown.

Queensland’s squad consists of, Jessica Jonassen, Delissa Kimmince, Bethany Mooney, Jemma Barsby, Haidee Birkett, Tess Cooper, Meagan Dixon, Josie Dooley, Jess Duffin, Holly Ferling, Laura Harris, Grace Harris, Sammy – Jo Johnson, Sterre Kalis, Georgia Prestwidge, Kirby Short, Courtney Sippel.
