Last year, Valtteri Bottas unveiled a new look for himself, namely growing a moustache and beard. Evidently, it was a good luck charm, as his performance improved drastically. This helped Mercedes to another title doubke. Since then, it became a bit of a standing joke in the F1 community. Suffice to say, Bottas was possibly the descendant of Samson from the Bible.

In a recent video across all their social media channels, Valtteri Bottas was seen sporting a massive beard that reached his toes. The Finnish driver went about his day at the Mercedes factory, eating breakfast, meeting with the engineers, having coffee, signing autographs, training and going in the simulator.

How did Valtteri Bottas and Mercedes react?

Obviously, the beard was fake and the team were just up for a bit of fun and games. On Youtube, the team confessed that it was ‘very very difficult’ for Valtteri Bottas to keep a straight face. The team appropriately dubbed the video, Valtteri 3.0 since the shorter beard and moustache was Bottas 2.0.

Admittedly, the Finnish driver was quite the trooper and successfully make it through the day without bursting out laughing. Unfortunately, the same could not be said of a few Mercedes personnel. Apparently, they struggled to hold in their laughter. Needless to say, Bottas appeared to resemble a typical Viking and he mustered everything in his power to not break into peals of laughter.

On a more serious note, the Finnish driver needs a good season, in order to remain at Mercedes. Meanwhile Mercedes are still trying to pursue Lewis Hamilton in order for him to sign a contract extension. The 6-time world champion currently holds the key to the 2021 driver market, especially since his contract expires at the end of the 2020 season. Bottas himself, also needs a new contract, and a good 2020 seasson will guarantee it.
