Miami Open 2019:- Ashleigh Barty Beats Karolina Pliskova For The Biggest Title

After few days of remarkable tennis, the two WTA players set up the final showdown in the Hard Rock Stadium of Miami. Karolina Pliskova swept aside the World Number three, Simona Halep in the semi-finals and Ashleigh Barty had a straight sets win over the Estonian, Anett Kontaveit. The World Number 11, Barty defeated Pliskova 7-6(1), 6-3 in the finals of the Miami Open 2019 to pick up her first ever Masters 1000 crown. 

Before Miami OPen 2019 final, Pliskova has entered 23 WTA finals out of which she has won 12 titles of them in her career and Barty has bagged three of them. Both of them embarked upon the journey to collect the biggest trophy of their career in the clammy conditions of Miami.

The Australian’s run to the final was followed by her semifinal loss in the Miami Open 2019 doubles event where she teamed up with the former champion, Victoria Azarenka. In the opening set, Karolina Pliskova broke the Australian’s serve to take 2-1 won lead. She consolidated her break with an ace and led by 3-1 against the 12th seed Barty. However, Barty did not take much time to break her back and equalized the score to 3-3 and later held her serve with an overhead smash.

With women retaliating for their breaks earlier in the first set, the set was eventually pushed into the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker turned out to be one-sided, as the Australian’s forehand winners and service aces allowed her to drop just a point in the exemplary tiebreaker and sealed the first set of the Miami Open 2019 final 7-6(1).

Pliskova and Barty have had a phenomenal run in Miami Open 2019 with their service games as both of them take the second and third position respectively on the list of the most number of points won on their service games with Petra Kvitova leading the table.

The second commenced with a 12-minute game followed by seven deuces on the Czech’s serve and Barty succeeded in seizing the opening break as Pliskova widens a groundstroke. Again the nightmare was bounced over Pliskova and her next service game observed a similar situation, but this time she held her serves after facing six deuces.

Dominating on her service and holding it love, Barty breezed to take a 4-2 lead and edged closer to her the prestigious title of her career in Miami Open 2019. Later usual tennis was witnessed from Pliskova’s end as she held her serve to love. However, Barty pulled off the biggest wins of her career on Pliskova’s serve and sealed a straight sets victory 7-6(1) 6-3 over the Czech.
