After the completion of the ICC World Cup, a couple of teams have announced the change in their coaching staff. However, according to the report, England have considered Mickey Arthur, the current Pakistan coach as one of the men to replace Trevor Bayliss, the current England coach. Bayliss, however, said he will not be with the England team after the end of the Ashes series.

Bayliss has already been hired by Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the franchises of Indian Premier League, replacing Tom Moody as their head coach. According to BBC, Ashley Giles, England director of cricket, on Monday said that he had informally said about the candidates and Mickey Arthur is one of them.

Arthur’s tenure with Pakistan Cricket Board has ended after the completion of the ICC World Cup 2019 and they are not willing to give him an extension. However, Arthur is interested in the new job. He was the coach of South Africa and Australia earlier. South Africa won a Test series in 2008 under his guidance while Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017 under his coaching.

Apart from him, the other candidates are South Africa coach Ottis Gibson and former India coach Gary Kirsten. Gibson was England’s bowling coach earlier and became South Africa coach at the end of 2017. On the other hand, Kirsten was a part of India team which won the World Cup in 2011. He is currently associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Along with them, Chris Silverwood, the current England assistants, Paul Collingwood and Graham Thorpe are also considered. However, according to the news, there is a possibility that an interim coach will be there for England in the tour of New Zealand in November. Although it will be interesting to see who will have the last laugh to be the coach of the new 50-over World Champion.
