Milos Raonic is set to make his debut at the Mexican Open in Acapulco this year. The Canadian started his season off well at the 2020 Australian Open after recent woes. He accepted a wildcard entry into the ATP 500 event, as he looks to continue his good start to the campaign in 2020.

The Mexican Open will begin on February 24 in the city of Acapulco, Mexico. Nick Kyrgios won the ATP 500 event last season, beating Rafael Nadal in the round of 16. Nadal is scheduled to play in the event this year as well.

Milos Raonic looking good once again

Milos Raonic was once among the top contenders to break through the trio-poly of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. He was gradually rising through the ranks and reaching the latter stages of tournaments.

He was at his best in 2016, when he managed to reach the semi final of the Australian Open and the final of Wimbledon later in the year.

Ranked as high as No. 3 in the world in 2016, Raonic has since tumbled down the order. Unfortunately, a slew of injuries hampered his momentum and confidence.

He started the year at the No. 30 spot in world rankings. But a good run into the quarter finals Down Under will give him some confidence for the rest of the season.

The Canadian sent the 6th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas packing after a convincing straight sets victory. He took another big name scalp in the next round, defeating Marin Cilic in straight sets too. Djokovic, the eventual champion, beat Raonic in the quarter finals to end his run.

Milos will surely take heart from his resurgent form this year. The 29-year-old boasts of one of the most fearsome serves in tennis. Not just in this generation, but all-time.

To put matters into perspective look at the following stat. Raonic has won 91% of the service games in his career, which is the third-highest in the Open Era.

Usually, big servers, who also happen to be tall players, lack in the other aspects of the game. Raonic stands out among the big serving players with his all-round game. He is a good mover, his ground strokes are good with a good forehand and a decent backhand.

Raonic will want to continue his good form and get back in, or near, the top 10 by the end of the year. He is scheduled to be joined by the likes of Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal at Acapulco.
