Alex Rodriguez is known throughout the world for his skills in baseball. The retired athlete never failed to impress the crowds whenever he was out on the baseball diamond. But in addition to his shortstop talent, A-Rod never gave up the opportunity to help those in need. He is also well known for his charity work, from helping people affected by COVID-19 to donating money to baseball stadiums.
The former Yankee has a well-known relationship with the University of Miami, where he has donated to various causes. The university even made Rodriguez an honorary alumnus in 2004, despite he never attended the school himself. However, there is another educational institution that he previously helped out. And it was something unexpected for the former slugger.

Alex Rodriguez once donated money to a dental care van
The University of Columbia took steps to ensure oral health care for poor children for free and thus created DentCare Network. In 2009, Rodriguez donated $250,000 for a mobile van that went around some of the underprivileged neighborhoods in NYC for free service. One of those areas was Washington Heights, where Rodriguez was born.
“Every child deserves access to regular dental visits,” the former shortstop said at the ceremony outside of Manhattan Middle School for Scientific Inquiry. “It is reassuring to know that this new dental van will serve nearly 3000 children in the community where I was born and its surrounding neighborhoods.”
Oral health care is extremely important for everyone but at the same time, expensive. So indeed, a great step by A-Rod!

Rodriguez has a vast history of philanthropic pursuits
The former Yankee is now retired but took up different business ventures to keep himself busy. With a net worth of $350 million, Rodriguez is certainly doing well for himself. As CEO of A-Rod Corp, and part owner of the NBA team Minnesota Werewolves, he can easily afford to lend a helping hand, which the 47-year-old doesn’t hesitate to do.
