Bidding farewell to his glorious playing tenure in 2014, Jeter joined the Marlins’ ownership group in 2017. He was briefly the CEO and co-owner of the franchise. However, his administration was a failure. Therefore, after a brief and unsuccessful stint, he left the role in 2022. 

But ‘A-Rod’ still holds Jeter in high regard as a CEO. Talking on the ‘KayRod Cast’, Rodriguez said, “I can speak from being a local in Miami. I don’t think, and I said this publicly many times, that Derek has got enough credit for the job he’s done. He did an incredible job with that firm system, their setup to win. If you spend a little bit of money now, they can make a run and even win a championship.”

Then talking straight to Jeter, Rodriguez added, “But I thought it was great the way you went around the community. You gave back to the community. But people don’t realize you were there 9 in the morning. You were there till midnight, raising girls. So again, I don’t think people appreciate on the ownership side. It’s just as hard as playing, probably harder.”
