Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez became an iconic legend of the sport through his masterful playing skills. But that wasn’t merely about all that he had in him. He always had the vision to make the sport more entertaining and to promote the brand of MLB worldwide. Recently, he talked about why he thinks that the New York Mets have a great future ahead.
Growing up, the Mets were Rodriguez’s favorite MLB team. Therefore, while dating pop music megastar Jennifer Lopez, ‘A-Rod’ even bid for a Mets’ ownership. Rodriguez wanted to utilize his combined massive net worth with Lopez to seal the Mets deal. Unfortunately, a bigger fish in the form of billionaire business executive, Steven Cohen rather got the Mets’ stamp of approval.

Thus, Cohen took over principal ownership of the Mets franchise with a whopping $2.4 billion purchase in 2020. Since then, he has already been making some notable changes in the roster and management. The most laudable move was the hiring of manager Buck Showalter. Therefore, Rodriguez couldn’t stop himself from praising the present Mets administration in his recent interview.
Alex Rodriguez loud-mouthed in praise of the New York Mets
In an interview with New York Post’s The Show podcast this year, Alex Rodriguez discussed his fantasy Mets’ vision. He even appreciated Steven Cohen for the similarities in Cohen’s Mets’ setup with Rodriguez’s own. Recently, the Yankees legend graced sports analyst Colin Cowherd’s podcast. At one instance, ‘A-Rod’ got into talking about the Mets again.
Speaking in the interview, Rodriguez said, “I love calling baseball-centric front offices. We look at Houston with Jim Crane. You look at Steven Cohen and Buck Showalter. You have the Braves, most experienced baseball staff. But the combination of Steven Cohen and Buck Showalter, who I think is the smartest mind in the game today.”

‘A-Rod’ further said, “I loved it for two reasons: (A) He has won. (B) He’s connected back to his old teammates. Sure, that’s a hell of a two-headed monster. I love the lengths, two years’s very controllable. I just love getting those two guys back together.”
