The New York Yankees are flying high in MLB. With a firm grip over the top spot in all of MLB, they are clearly getting something right this season, and their offense may be a big contributor.

With the 45 wins that they have registered so far coming with credit due to their batting line-up, the Bronx Bombers have also had a resurgent mound rotation prop up their defense. With their two headliners hitting their stride again, fans of the Yankees will be bullish about their chances this year.

With talismanic hitter Aaron Judge and ace Gerrit Cole getting into form at the right times, the Yankees look ready to push for the title. Even more so perhaps with the blistering pace that Aaron Judge is setting from the barrel of his bat. The right-fielder is on course to have a record season for the pinstripes. Already having moved past legends like Babe Ruth and Roger Maris with 25 homers to his name this season, Judge could be set to see his stock shoot to the moon.

Judge jogs ahead of legends like Babe Ruth and Roger Maris

Aaron Judge is enjoying one of his best starts to the season. With his tally so far in 2022, Judge has already moved clear of the regular suspects. In 62 team games so far, he has launched the ball past the boundary 25 times. One better than Babe Ruth’s season in 1927 and Roger Maris’ 1961, and well clear of Mickey Mantle, who had 20 to his name by this point. If he keeps pace with his current rate, Judge could snag as high as 65 homers this season.

And with the Yankees now setting their eyes on glory, he could be the lynchpin of their plans. Judge has never truly reached the standards that people had expected him to with his homer tallies. But he is proving them all wrong this season. And if he keeps his eyes on the prize, he could be set to take home the glory from it.

Aaron Judge – betting on himself

Prior to the beginning of this season, much of the conversation around Aaron Judge was around an extension with the New York Yankees. With his contract running into arbitration next year, he has clarified that if he is to stay a pinstripe, then a contract will need to be agreed upon before next year. However, when it came to brass tacks, the two sides could not come to an agreement on the terms.

Judge then rejected the offer on the table and bet on himself instead. Pushing to the side any discussions of the contract during the season, he assured the Yankees that the focus during the season would be solely on playing. And more so on winning.

And so far, Judge is delivering on his promises. The gamble seems to be paying off if he maintains the pace. But what do you think? Could Judge continue this pace and lead the Yankees to a pennant? Or do you think Judge is just peaking too early and there may be a drop-off over the course of the season instead?
