The two of them are polar opposites of each other but have achieved a lot in their individual lifetimes.

The thing that connects the two is the New York Yankees and the fact that Alex Rodriguez used to play for the team. Trump is a huge Yankees fan and has been so for decades. During A-Rod’s time with the Yankees, Trump used to call him out regularly.

What did Donald Trump say about Alex Rodriguez?

During a 2012 episode of Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump took a jibe at him, but Rodriguez responded calmly. According to the NY Daily News, Trump took a jibe at Rodriguez while praising Debbie Gibson for a statement she made. Gibson said that “she didn’t care who received the credit as long as her team wins” while completing a challenge.

Trump credited Gibson for the statement and slated A-Rod in the process. “That’s all about winning; that’s a Derek Jeter-type statement,” Trump said. “We love Derek. That’s not an A-Rod statement; it’s a Derek statement.”
