Carlos Correa Blames One Doctor for Ending His Hopes of Earning Over $300 Million After Inking Minnesota Twins Deal

This off-season has been an eventful one, but nobody has had more going on during this period than Carlos Correa. In fact, Correa has had a rollercoaster ride during this off-season due to his free agency. He suffered from two canceled deals before finally landing a 6-year $200 million pact with the Minnesota Twins.

Correa’s deals with the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets stalled due to medical concerns during his physicals. But in a recent interview, the two-time All-star shortstop opened up on what caused him to lose his deals.

During a phone interview with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Carlos Correa opened up on what went wrong with his physicals. He said that the Giants and the Mets both used the same ankle specialist during his medicals. Since the specialist failed him in the physical with the Giants, he wasn’t going to pass him with the Mets. This led him to lose the deal with the Mets even though other experts said he was fine.

According to The Athletic, Correa said “The Giants used an ankle specialist who didn’t pass me. Then the Mets used the same specialist, who obviously wasn’t going to pass me. He had already given an opinion to another team about my ankle. He was not going to change that.”Correa also said, “We did have other ankle specialists look at it and say it was going to be fine”.

Notably, Correa sustained an injury to his right leg during his time in the minor leagues. That is what the ankle specialist who conducted both the Giants and Mets physicals reportedly had a problem with. But Correa has now confirmed that other doctors have looked at it and said it’s fine. Furthermore, there is one big thing that both the Mets and Giants overlooked. 

Correa has not suffered a right leg injury while playing in the MLB

Yes, you read that right! Despite talks about medical concerns over Correa’s right leg, he hasn’t actually injured it while playing in the MLB. Since having surgery to correct his gruesome injury in the Minor Leagues, Correa’s leg has been fully healthy.

Furthermore, he is coming off of two of his best seasons in 2021 and 2022. The two-time All-Star is looking to be in fantastic physical condition.
